Due to transportation restrictions, the lighter is shipped without kerosene. Please add kerosene after receiving the product before use.
Usage Instructions:
Turn the cap counterclockwise, remove the match, and add kerosene.
Place the match against the magnesium bar and slide it downward to ignite.
How a permanent match works
The Survax is a small metal case that holds fuel. The match is a metal rod with a wick, and it screws into the case so the wick stays soaked and sealed until you need it. Unscrew it, strike the tip down the bar on the side of the case, and the spark lights the wick. You get a match-sized flame that can be used again and again, which is why it is called a permanent match.
Why carry one
- Refillable. Top it up with kerosene and it is ready again.
- Sealed when closed. The screw cap keeps the fuel in and water out, so it can ride in a pocket, a pack or a survival kit.
- Small. It fits in any pocket or pack.
- Two finishes. Choose gold or silver when you order.
Good to know
- Fill it outdoors or in a well-ventilated place, away from any flame. Do not overfill it, and wipe the case dry before you strike.
- Have dry tinder ready before you light it: cotton wool, dry grass or fine wood shavings.
- Screw the match back in fully after use. That is what keeps the fuel from evaporating.
- Keep it away from children. Fuelled fire starters are generally not allowed on aircraft, so check your airline’s rules before you travel.
